De garrison cap is gegeven tijdens de bevrijding van Eindhoven op 18 September 1944 aan de opa van de beste kameraad van Niek.
De 506th P.I.R. was richting Eindhoven gestuurd om daar het Engelse XXX corps te ontmoeten. Dit is gebeurd in Woensel (506th vanuit het noorden, het XXX Corps vanuit het zuiden)
De 506th P.I.R. is bekend van onder andere de serie Band of Brothers en Majoor Richard Dick Winters. (Dit is overigens ook de lievelings divisie van Ron en Niek)
Ten tijde van de bevrijding van Eindhoven stond het 506th P.I.R. onder het commando van Colonel Robert Sink.
Deze Garrison Cap is in Mint conditie.
